(I got most of this information from the back of Inu-Yasha graphic novel volume 2 and http://web.utk.edu/~bborchar/takahashi_biopage.html.)
Takahashi Rumiko was born in Niigata, Japan, October 10, 1957. She attended woman's college in Tokyo, where she studied with Koike Kazuo, author of "Crying Freeman". In 1978, Takahashi won a prize in Shogakukan's annual "New Comic Artist Contest", and the same year her comic "Lum*Urusei Yatsura" began appearing in Shonen Sunday. It ran for 9 years, and with the success of "Ranma 1/2", she became one of the most respected manga artists in the world. With the publication of Ranma 1/2 vol. 34, the total number of compiled works sold by Takahashi reached over 100,000,000 around the world. A tax report released in recent years showed Takahashi as one of the richest persons in Japan (she was 5th at that time). A list of Takahashi's major serial works is below.
Here is a list of some other works that she has done (in no particular order):
Ranma 1/2Lum Urusei Yatsura
